Welcome to PICs Seminar 2011

On behalf of the South African Medicines Control Council (MCC) I am proud to announce that South Africa will be hosting the 2011 PIC/S Seminar in Cape Town from 9 to 11 November 2011. It is the very first time that a PIC/S Seminar will be held in Africa and I invite all medicine inspectors involved in the inspections of medicines manufacturers for compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices to attend this special event in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Cape Town.

This Seminar will address "Good Pharmaceutical Inspection Practices" and consist of presentations and workshops. Presentations will focus on strengthening and enhancing the non technical skills required by inspectors and provide a framework for the practical aspects of the inspection phases, effective communication, negotiation and reading body language.

Workshops cover issues such as:

  • What to look for regarding past inspection observations and quality systems
  • Reviewing similarities and differences for the top 10 deficiencies cited by PIC/S members
  • Identifying “red flags” during inspections – what inspectors should avoid
  • Security and data integrity considerations on record keeping

Participation of GMP inspectors from National Drug Regulatory Authorities around the world is encouraged. This is an ideal opportunity for networking, exchange of ideas and discussion to improve the effectiveness and outcomes of inspections for the ultimate benefit of the patient.

The MCC is looking forward to welcoming you in South Africa.

Best regards
